OwnHealth has demonstrated significant clinical², service usage¹
and user satisfaction³ results in Birmingham
Since Birmingham OwnHealth was implemented in 2006 it has been
evaluated in a number of ways. The evaluation have focused on a
number of areas around improvements in clinical metrics, service
utilisation and associated cost as well as patient
satisfaction.

OwnHealth Outcomes
Evaluations using externally sourced data include a study
demonstrating improved clinical measures in the Birmingham
OwnHealth intervention group compared to the control group², and a
study using Secondary Uses Service data demonstrating that
participation in OwnHealth is associated with statistically
significant reductions in the number of spells and costs across
various disease areas¹.

OwnHealth Yearly Evaluations
The annual evaluations assess self-reported changes in clinical
metrics, service utilisations and patient satisfaction which are
critical to the management of people living with long term
conditions.
