Looking to the future
Building on the success of the Birmingham OwnHealth® programme, Birmingham East and North PCT, NHS Direct and Pfizer Health Solutions are working with Birmingham City Council to enrol more members in the OwnHealth® programme and to offer Telehealth and Telecare monitoring as part of the service.
Supporting people with stroke and COPD
The OwnHealth® programme will also be expanded to provide services to those who have been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and those who have suffered a stroke.
Supporting the elderly
As a result of this further investment in the current partnership, the frail elderly will be considered for enrolment in the OwnHealth® programme. They will be supported to maintain a healthy lifestyle and independence within their chosen community.
